Today we got up at 4 am (!) and drive up to El Tatio Geysiers (4200 m high), entrance fee 5.000 pesos pax (approx. 7,70 €). We drove over two hours in the complete darkness, only seeing the road and surrounded by a beautiful sky full of stars. It was like being in one of these observatories where you are seated below a Planetarium Dome. We arrived at 6:40 as we were supposed to be there at sunrise. It was bitter cold, -6°C, we were freezing. When the sun came out, it got much more pleasant, and we even took a bath in the hot springs called "piscine". We left at 10 am and were happy to be able to see the scenery of where we had been driving through this morning. We were back at 1 pm in San Pedro de Atacama and had lunch with our cousins at the Restaurant "All Natural". After some hours rest, we met for dinner at CKunna Restaurante (very good).
El Tatio Geysiere - die höchsten der Welt!
Heute sind wir um sage und schreibe 4 Uhr morgens aufgestanden, um zu den Geysieren El Tatio zu fahren (auf 4200 m, 5000 Pesos Eintritt, ca. 7,70 €). Wir sind über 2 Stunden in einer unglaublich totalen Dunkelheit gefahren. Man konnte nur die Straße vor sich sehen, ansonsten nur eine Halbkugel, wie wenn man im Planetarium sitzen würde. Wir sind um 6:40 Uhr angekommen, wir sollten ja vor Sonnenaufgang dort sein. Es war so bitter kalt, minus 6°C, wir haben ganz schön gefroren. Als die Sonne rauskam, wurde es viel angenehmer und wir haben sogar ein Bad in dem "Schwimmbad" der Thermalquellen genommen. Um 10 Uhr sind wir abgefahren und waren froh, sehen zu können, wie die Landschaft aussah, in der wir heute morgen durchgefahren sind. Um 13 Uhr waren wir zurück in San Pedro de Atacama. Mittagessen mit unseren Cousins im Restaurant "All Natural". Nach einer ausgedehnten Siesta haben wir unser Abendessen im Restaurant CKunna eingenommen (sehr gut).

First we explored the little town of San Pedro de Atacama. Lunch in the restaurant La Casona which belongs to the same owner as the Adobe, i.e. food was good. At 3:15 pm Volker and me drove to the Valle de la Luna - Moon Valley (enhance fee 2500 pesos). We crawled through a cave, walked up dunes where we had spectacular views. We came back at 7:15 pm -tired but happy- and had ceviche and tortilla at the Cafe Export (not so good). Jonathan and Leo spent the evening at the Hotel Explora with other pilots.
Vormittags Besichtigung von San Pedro de Atacama. Mittagessen im Restaurant La Casona, das zum gleichen Besitzer gehört wie das Adobe mit Leonora und Jonathan. Um 15:15 sind nur wir beide zum Valle de la Luna gefahren (Eintritt 2500 Pesos pro Person). Durch eine Grotte gekrault und auf Dünen mit wunderschönen Ausblicken gelaufen. Um 19:15 müde aber glücklich nach Hause gekommen, zum Café Export noch gegangen, wo wir Ceviche und Tortilla gegessen haben. Jonathan und Leo haben den Abend mit anderen Piloten verbracht im Hotel Explora.
