Valle de Lasana and its petroglyphs

The village of Caspana embedded in a canyon. Once you’re out of the village, you cannot see Caspana from the haut-plateau!

In the morning we visited the Pukara de Quitor, a pre-Colombian fortress from where you have a great view upon San Pedro de Atacama and the surroundings. After that we picked up Leonora and Jonathan and drove to Calama to get them started for their flight back to Santiago de Chile. Great inexpensive lunch at the restaurant Club Croata in the centre of Calama. Jonathan and Leonora took off at 3:40 pm. We were very sad to see them leave, because we have had a great time together, very relaxed. Volker and I decided to go to Valle Lasana and tried to find all the petroglyphs that were scattered along a canyon wall of this valley. At the end was a tiny museum with a mummy of a pre-Colombian man that was working in a mine. After a short stop at the Chiu-Chiu lake we drove to the Andean village of Caspana.

Vormittags zum Pukará  de Quitor, eine Art präkolombianische Burg, die schönen Ausblick auf San Pedro de Atacama und die Umgebung bietet. Danach haben wir Jonathan und Leonora im Hotel abgeholt und sind gemeinsam nach Calama gefahren. Dort haben sie das Flugzeug fertig gemacht und anschliessend sind wir im Restaurant Club Croata in der Innenstadt essen gegangen (sehr gut und preiswert 26.000 pcl). Zurück zum Flughafen, wo Leo und ich noch schönen Schmuck in dem einzigen Laden, den es dort gab, eingekauft haben! Jonathan undLeonora sind um 15:40 Uhr abgeflogen. Wir waren sehr traurig, dass sie weggeflogen sind, denn wir hatten eine sehr schöne und relaxte Zeit miteinander. Danach sind wir zum Valle de Lasana gefahren und haben dort versucht, alle Petroglyphe zu finden. Besuch des Museums, in dem man eine Mumie eines precolombianischen Minenarbeiters sehen konnte. (Auch habe ich dort zwei schöne t-Shirts gekauft). Kurzer Abstecher zum Lago de Chiu-Chiu. Weiterfahrt nach Caspana, ein Dorf mitten in einer Schlucht gelegen, man sieht nichts von oben! Rückfahrt nach San Pedro de Atacama, teilweise in der Dunkelheit mit einer überraschender Polizeistation -mit Schranke- mitten ganz oben JWD in der Pampa, im wahren Sinne des Wortes. Noch empanadas in einem Imbiss in SP de Atacama gegessen.
