Cayo Coco

Saturday 20.05.2017: Trinidad - Cayo Coco: 260 #km, 31ºC windy on the island

Our cousins met us in our hotel and we drove towards Cayo Coco. We stopped to buy mangos and bananas in a typical Cuban village. Then barbecue style lunch at Rancho Palma (55 CUC, very good but too much). Check-in at the Hotel Tryp Meliá Cayo Coco (connecting rooms 1464 and 1465). Dinner at the brand new Pullman Hotel where Christian worked before coming to the Tryp hotel. We went to a posh restaurant and had some exquisite specialties (invited by Christian).

Sunday 21.05.2017: Cayo Coco: 32ºC

We tried to return the car after breakfast but nobody was there, so Julia called the office and they told us they would come the next day to our hotel (which really worked out!). Lunch at the beach barn, then a swim in the warm sea. Then we went to the pool and had a salsa and new Macarena lesson with Steve. After that we walked with Christian and Ximena to the Casita Cubana Restaurant. We all were hungry, so they served us good Cuban finger food that we enjoyed as much as the mosquitoes enjoyed us! Aperitif Pisco Sour at Ximena’s and Christian’s suite then dinner at the rustic cottage next to the restaurant (excellent, 20 CUC tip).

Monday 22.05.2017: Cayo Coco:

At 9:30 we returned the car in our hotel. A good swim at the beach, lunch with the regular customers at 13:00, snorkel tour at 15:00 (20 CUC pax). After resting for an hour or so, we met with Christian and Ximena and had dinner over to the Casita Cubana restaurant, which also belongs to the hotel. At night we had dinner at the restaurant El Mar (very good, tip 20 CUC).
