We left pretty late, it was almost dark, delivered maps to the Hotel Vila Galé Albacora, then settled for the night behind the Forte do Rato on the road going to a beach behind the Hotel Albacora. A very quiet place. GPS: N
30.04.09 Loulé – Tavira (teilweise bewölkt, 19 ºC)
Wir sind ziemlich spät von Loulé losgefahren, es war schon fast dunkel, haben Pläne beim Hotel Vila Galé Albacora geliefert und uns hinter dem Forte do Rato, auf einem Weg, der zum Strand hinter Albacora führt für die Nacht installiert. Ein sehr ruhiges Plätzchen. GPS: N
01.05.09 Tavira – Manta Rota - Odeleite (22 ºC und sunny)
Exploration of this area, walk through the Hotel Vila Galé Albacora with visit of the Tuna Fishing Museum: This beautiful hotel was until 1972 a fish manufacture with 120 people working there! After that we continued to Manta Rota where we parked at the parking space behind the Beach Restaurant “Peixe sem espinhas”. We walked through town and had lunch at the Restaurant Manta Mar (good and cheap: 22 euros for both with wine and coffee). Drive to Odeleite where we settled at the Warden House (casa do guarda), an absolutely quiet place. And there is even a picnic place with benches, tables, and a barbecue. We loved it here and had a very good night rest after watching the good movie “Inside Man”. GPS: N
01.05.09 Tavira – Manta Rota - Odeleite (22 ºC und sonnig)
Wir haben das Gebiet ein wenig erkundet, sind durch das Hotelgelände von Vila Galé Albacora durchgelaufen, haben das Museum für Tunfischfang besichtigt. Eingentlich ist das Hotel das ehemalige Fabrikgelände für die Verarbeitung von Tunfisch; es arbeiteten dort bis 120 Leute. Danach sind wir nach Manta Rota gefahren und haben dort auf dem Parkplatz hinter dem Strand-Restaurant „Peixe sem Espinhas“ geparkt. Wir sind im Dorf spazieren gegangen und haben im Restaurant „Manta Mar“ sehr schön und preiswert gegessen (22 € für uns beiden mit Vinho Verde und Kaffee). Danach Fahrt nach Odeleite, wo wir uns am Casa do Guarda (Försterhaus) übernachtet haben. Ein sehr schönes, super-ruhiges Plätzen, mit Picknick-Tischen und Barbeque. Hier gefällt es uns wirklich sehr und haben sehr schön geschlafen, nachdem wir den Film „Inside Man“ gesehen haben. GPS: N

02.05.09 Odeleite – Alcoutim - Odeleite (23 ºC sonnig)
Wake up call through the noisy birds that are here. Drive to Foz de Odeleite where we parked the van next to the village, took our bicycles out and drove up to Alcoutim along the River Guadiana. Back the same way with a lot of wind against us. In Foz de Odeleite we had an apéro at the Rstaurant “Arcos do Guadiana” (very nice). Drive back to the great place next to the Forest Warden House close to Odeleite where we had a good barbecue and stayed again overnight. GPS: N
02.05.09 Odeleite – Alcoutim – Odeleite (23 ºC sonnig)
Nachdem wir heute von den Vögeln aufgeweckt wurden, sind wir nach Foz de Odeleite gefahren, haben dort das Wohni am Rande des Dorfes geparkt und sind bis Alcoutim entlang dem Fluss Guadiana geradelt. Auf dem Rückweg haben wir in Foz de Odeleite im Restaurant „Arcos do Guadiana“ unseren Apéritif eingenommen. Fahrt zurück zu unserem Lieblingsplatz neben dem Försterhaus in Odeleite, um dort zu übernachten und vorher zu grillen. GPS: N

03.05.09 Odeleite – Loulé (sunny 22 ºC)
We hit the trail “PR 5” which begins directly in front of our wonderful overnight space (11 km, 3 hours, from the book “Pedestrian hiking trails on the Algarve”). Drive home pretty early, because in the evening we were invited at our friends’ Lilo and Klaus to eat Weißwürstl with Bretzeln, Obatza and Radi. It was great!
03.05.09 Odeleite – Loulé (sonnig 22 ºC)
Wir sind den Wanderweg “PR 5” which gelaufen, der direct an unserem Übernachtungsplatz vorbeigeht (11 km, 3 Stunden, von dem Buch “Pedestrian hiking trails on the Algarve”). Wir sind ziemlich früh nach Hause gefahren, da wir abends bei unseren Freunden Lilo & Klaus zum Weißwürstl essen eingeladen waren. Dazu gab es noch Bretzeln, Obatza and Radi. Es war richtig schön!
