Thursday 01.07.2022: Loulé - São Teotónio (alt 196 m): 112 km - very warm, but nicely cold in the evening and night 27ºC
Take off at 16h and drive to São Teotónio with a stop at Intermarché in São Bartolomeu de Messines for gas and grocery shopping. Overnight at Vida d'Água, a private aire where we were the only ones. Alvin, the owner, likes to talk, he is nice and likes to make jokes. His wife is Brazilian from Valadares (10€/night without electricity). N37º29'C49" W8º42'59"
Friday 02.07.2022: - São Teotónio: bicycle ride down to Cabo Sardão and back - again a beautiful day, 29ºC
After a lazy morning we took off with our bicycles to Cabo Sardão and then Zambujeira do Mar. Even with my e-bike I was happy when we were back after 56 km and almost 500 m ascent. Lunch at Porto das Barcas at the restaurant A Barca (very good, 61€). We had for the first time a fish called "varia". Coffee in Zambujeira do Mar. Evening cocktail at home (gin tonic, what else!).
Saturday 03.05.2022: São Teotónio - Vila Nova de André "Badoca Safari Park" - Zambujeira do Mar CG (alt 48m): 153 km - cloudy and a bit windy 22ºC
Drive to Badoca Safari Park (17,90€/pax, senior 15,90€). Included is a nice safari ride in wagons like a train through an African like area where the highlight are the giraffes! Drive to Zambujeira do Mar to the Camping Villa Park Zambujeira. Very niche camping (34,80€ for 2 nights 2 pax without electricity), not full at all because of Covid-19, very clean, well maintained and well managed. In the evening, after BBQ linner (lunch+dinner) we had a beer at the bar. 37.52415, -8.77646
Sunday 04.05.2022: Zambujeira do Mar CG: 26ºC not too hot
After a late Sunday breakfast with bread from the minimarket, we walked through Zambujeira do Mar and then down to the beach. The water is cold and the flag was yellow, so I got into the ocean up to the knees. Light lunch at Cervejaria Marisqueira I with percebes and delicious fresh oysters (40,14€), then back to our camper. We changed site to further up and closer to the reception. N37º31'29" W8º46'33"
Monday 05.05.2022: Zambujeira do Mar CG - Loulé (alt 137 m): 134 km - cloudy and humid 22ºC in Zambujeira do Mar and 32ºC in Loulé!
Walk to the praia dos Alteirinhos where there is a nude bathing area. Ocean water was wavy and cold (≈ 19ºC), but Julia enjoyed the refreshing plunge. We walked around 5 km. Lunch at the restaurant Costa Alentejana (cataplana with too many and not well cooked potatoes, 47€). At 15h we were supposed to get out of our camping, so it was all done in a bit of rush. Drive to Lagoa Auchan gas station and back home.
